A sonic testament to the last gnostic Ophite, Ionides of Cephalonia, burned at the stake for heresy in 1567 A.D. To this day, his name is never uttered, yet his spirit emerges every August in the form of four snakes that visit the temple of Panayia Lagouvarda in the Ionian island of Cephalonia.
